June 10-11, 2023
It all started in 2018, after shooting a portrait to my friend Ilaria that inspired by the famous portrait of Natalia Vodianova by Paolo Roversi. The project “Faccioni” (huge faces) was born as a kind of joke, but it then lead to this exhibition, “A viso aperto” (“Open face”). The photos of this exhibition were shot in a time-frame of five years. The exhibition was initially planned in May 2020, but it was postponed due to the events that we all know. The additional time was anyhow useful for adding new faces to the project, making it richer. By choice, both during the shooting and the post-production phases, I strove for an ethereal mood; focus is completely on faces and even naked shoulders were chosen for this purpose, so as to avoid any distraction from clothes.
All the photos of “A viso aperto” have been printed by me on Ilford Mono Silk Warmtone inkjet paper.
